Every climb on our jobs is run by a certified climbing arborist. Mathew Stephenson owns KMS Tree Services, and alongside the climbing ticket he is a qualified Trainer and Assessor in arboricultural workplace training, with a Cert II in ESI behind that. The only people who will work on your trees are KMS employees, all of them experienced in modern arboricultural techniques, and we hold every licence our area calls for along with full public liability and professional indemnity cover.

Not every block gives you the room to drop a tree in one piece. Tree felling and removal is the simple version, for the trees with a clear fall and something soft to land on. When there is nothing of the sort, confined space dismantling brings the tree out piece by piece over a shed roof, a pool fence or the neighbour's colorbond, and nothing hits the ground that we have not put there on purpose. An 18 metre telescopic EWP truck gets us up into a canopy without walking through your garden beds, and an Avant loader with a log grab on it shifts the timber once it is down.

Where the tree is staying put, pruning and dead-wooding clear the dead and broken timber out of the canopy before it comes down by itself, and crown alterations reduce or reshape a crown that has outgrown the space it sits in. If you are not sure which side of that line your tree sits on, our hazard tree assessments put a trained eye over it and give you something to make the decision on.

Cleaning up afterwards is part of the job here. Wood chipping is done on site as the timber comes down, and because of that we can also run mulch deliveries, so a load for the garden beds comes straight off a job rather than out of a bag from the hardware shop.

We are based at Latrobe and work right across northern and western Tasmania. Emergency storm damage is part of what we take on, so if a limb or a whole tree has come down across a driveway, a fence or a shed, get on the phone and we will sort out getting to you. We are contactable Monday to Friday from seven until five and Saturdays by appointment, and we will come out and look at the tree in front of us before putting a price on the work.
