Our grinders take a stump to 500mm below ground level, and the machines are compact enough to fit through access other people's gear cannot, which is how a good many of our jobs arrive: somebody else has looked at the side gate and said no. If you need the base cleared out deeper than that, we have the tools for it, and what is left underground is roots that will decompose on their own over a few years. Lakeside Trees and Stumps is owned and run out of Joondalup by certified arborist Andy Lloyd-Jones, working across Perth's northern suburbs and north of the river generally, for householders, strata, builders and property managers alike.

Every member of the crew is certified to the global standard set by the International Society of Arboriculture, and they keep going through safety training and technical skills upgrades, because climbing trees and running dangerous machinery is not a trade you learn once. We are fully insured.

Species decides how a job gets planned. Cocos, date, traveller and cotton palms each come down differently and we take all four, working a palm tree removal from the top down with a climber, fronds first and then the trunk in sections on the way back to the ground. Norfolk Island pines, jacarandas, ficus, yuccas, Brazilian and Japanese pepper trees, gums and eucalypts, fiddlewood, lilly pilly, olive, melaleuca and peppermint agonis all get removed or pruned the way that particular species responds to being cut, because where a cut goes decides everything that happens to the tree afterwards.

Plenty of trees never need to come out at all. Tree pruning, trimming, shaping and hedging will usually bring one back into line with the space it has to live in, and our cherry picker service reaches the ones that cannot be safely climbed. We also take on block and land clearing, garden pruning and garden mulch.

Perth weather does the rest. Searing summer heat, and thunderstorms arriving on the back of cyclones up north, bring trees down onto cars, windows and public footpaths, so our emergency service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week: damaged and fallen timber removed, the mess cleaned up, immediate threats neutralised and the rest of the property checked for what might go next.
