Lampe Tree Care

Lampe Tree Care is a family run tree business based at Skennars Head, on the stretch of coast between Ballina and Lennox Head. Jethro Lampe runs it as a Level 5 Consulting Arborist, having done his training in Brisbane and locally, and his brother Joseph is the Cert III Arborist who supervises the crews on site. Between them the team counts around 25 years of experience in the trade.

Consulting is a bigger part of this business than it is for most local tree crews. Jethro writes hazard assessments, arborist reports and tree schedules for council applications, the sort of paperwork a development application or a removal permit hangs on. That side of the work is done for local councils, developers, real estate agents and commercial clients as well as homeowners. For a homeowner it usually turns up as a consultation: you ask what is wrong with the tree and leave with a plan, rather than a quote for the biggest possible job.

On the tools, all tree pruning is carried out to AS 4373, the Australian Standard for pruning amenity trees. Tree removals follow council and government guidelines, and the crew take on confined area work where there is little room to drop timber. Deadwood removal clears the dead limbs out of a crown before they come down on their own, and stump grinding is handled with a limited access grinder that gets into back yards a full size machine cannot reach.

A 4x4 truck lets them take the chipper straight to the worksite instead of dragging brush out to the kerb, and the mulch can always be retained on site free of charge if you have a use for it. They also carry out plantings, fire zone and access clearing for properties working to a fire plan, and emergency work on storm damaged trees and anything else that will not wait for the next available slot.

Lampe Tree Care covers Ballina, Lennox Head, Alstonville, Lismore, Byron Bay and the wider Northern Rivers. Alongside Jethro and Joseph the crew includes Cert III Arborists Kye Duesbury and Toby Duesbury, and the business holds insurance cover up to $20 million for the works it conducts. Quotes are free for residential clients. Trading hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, with Saturdays by appointment.
