About This Business
Five minutes out of Margaret River there is a farm that has been in the Lane family for four generations, and the eucalypt plantation Pete Lane put in there in 1991 is where Margaret River Tree Services grew from. He planted a mix of species instead of a single crop, for the diversity and the resilience that gives the system, and left the cut stumps unpoisoned to protect the biology in the soil. Adam runs the tree work now. He trained in the UK and holds NPTC tree climbing certifications.
Residential tree care covers the whole range, from detailed secateur pruning through deadwooding and tree bracing to stump grinding and full tree removals. Where the tree and the access allow it we climb rather than reach for a machine, which keeps trees standing that would otherwise have to come out to make room for one. On the bigger blocks, rural tree services is the same skill set across more ground: clearing, pruning, and sorting out the health of trees spread over paddocks and bush.
Before a tree comes down we look at what is living in it. Finding the hollows and the nests and working around them is part of the job here, and where a habitat tree can be made safe instead of taken out, that is what we will put to you first.
What comes off the plantation and off jobs gets turned into something useful. We sell firewood from the thinnings of a hardwood plantation now more than thirty years old, and bush poles in Red Stringybark, Southern Mahogany and Spotted Gum, the Spotted Gum rated to BAL-29 if you are building in a bushfire zone. Poles are priced on diameter. Our mulch is a superfine chip, the sort you want around garden beds and young trees to get them through the heat.
Already got a heap of rounds sitting in the yard? We will bring the splitter to you. Mobile firewood splitting runs at 5 an hour behind a 34 tonne hydraulic splitter, with a minimum of a cubic metre split every hour, and the 4x4 and tipper trailer mean we can get down a farm track to reach it.
We work across Margaret River, Cowaramup, Gracetown, Augusta and the surrounding South West. What a job costs comes down to the size of the tree, where it is standing, and whether you want to keep the firewood, so the sensible first step is a look at it. Call or text Adam on 0497 341 569. We might be up a tree when you ring, but we will get back to you.
