Melbourne Treeworks

Nineteen ninety three is where this starts. Greg and Linda Harrington founded the business that year as Melbourne Tree & Stump Removal, and it has been working on Melbourne trees ever since. In 2021 it merged with Cutting Edge Tree Services, founded by Adam Roberts. In 2025 it acquired the tree works division of Melbourne Tree Care. Melbourne Treeworks is what all of that became: multiple crews, a full set of modern and well maintained equipment, and a place in the Arborcare Group.

We work across greater Melbourne for commercial, municipal and residential clients, and we keep a permit page on our own site for each council we regularly deal with: Banyule, Bayside, Boroondara, Brimbank, Cardinia, Casey, Darebin, Glen Eira, Greater Dandenong, Hume, Kingston, Knox, Manningham, Maribyrnong, Maroondah, Monash, Port Phillip, Stonnington, Whitehorse and the Yarra Ranges.

Our focus is clients who maintain high profile sites, and that changes how a job has to run. Government House, Federation Square, the Arts Centre Melbourne and the Melbourne Museum. Deakin, Swinburne, Monash and La Trobe. Monash Health and Peninsula Health. The City of Yarra, and a number of golf clubs. On grounds like those the work cannot close a path for the day or leave anything behind overnight, so we plan around three things: the safety of the people using the premises, the health and presentation of the trees, and keeping interruptions on the ground to a minimum. Families, patrons, students, patients, members and staff are all walking underneath while we are up there.

Tree maintenance and pruning are carried out to Australian Standard AS 4373, which on a presentation ground is the difference between a tree that holds its shape for another twenty years and one that has been hacked back. Where a tree has to go, tree removal takes it out, with stump removal and root removal on the same visit and noxious weed removal where council compliance demands it. Tree planting is a service in its own right here, council and commercial both, which fits the amount of time we spend on institutional grounds and streetscapes where new stock has to go in and then actually survive. Our arborists are qualified and fully insured, our crews are WWCC compliant and hold the relevant industry tickets, and we carry 20 million dollars of public liability insurance alongside indemnity cover.
