Melbourne Treeworks

Melbourne Treeworks traces back to 1993, when Greg and Linda Harrington started Melbourne Tree and Stump Removal. It took its present shape through a 2021 merger with Cutting Edge Tree Services, founded by Adam Roberts, and picked up the tree works division of Melbourne Tree Care in 2025. That is more than 30 years of trading history behind a business now running multiple crews across the city.

The client list says a fair bit about the standard of the work. Melbourne Treeworks has worked at Government House, Federation Square and the Arts Centre Melbourne, and holds work with Deakin University, Swinburne University, Monash Health and Peninsula Health, along with a number of golf clubs. The commercial side takes in local councils, schools, healthcare sites, camping operators, sports and entertainment venues, property managers and corporate grounds, and residential jobs are still taken on alongside it.

Tree maintenance is carried out to Australian Standard AS 4373, the pruning standard, which matters on grounds where the trees are part of the presentation rather than just the background. Tree removal covers the trees that have to go, with stump removal and noxious weed removal handled at the same time. Where a tree can be kept, the maintenance work aims to hold its health and shape rather than reduce it to a stump on stilts.

The planting side is unusual for a tree company to lead with. Council tree planting and commercial tree planting are listed as services in their own right, which fits an outfit spending a lot of its time on institutional grounds and streetscapes where new stock has to go in and then survive. Arborist reports round it out, and the site keeps its own pages on council permits and on insurance, which are the two things clients tend to ask about before anything else.

Crews are qualified, fully insured arborists, WWCC compliant and holding the relevant industry tickets, and the business carries both public liability and professional indemnity cover. Work covers Melbourne broadly, with Bentleigh, Malvern, Chadstone, Mount Waverley, Knox, Rowville and Scoresby named on the site. Equipment is described as modern and well maintained, and the priorities are set out plainly: safety of the people using the site, the health and presentation of the trees, and keeping interruptions on the ground to a minimum.
