About This Business
Three ISO certifications sit behind the way we run a job: quality to ISO 9001, environmental practice to ISO 14001 and health and safety to ISO 45001. MPDT also carries $20 million in public liability cover, professional indemnity and the relevant Work Cover insurance. That is what gets us onto utility corridors, mine sites and council land as readily as into a suburban back yard.
Bud, Billy and Priscilla Quaid started the business in 2005 with more than 30 years of combined industry experience between them, doing tree work for homeowners and local councils. It grew from there into commercial, utility, mining and civil vegetation management, and has since taken our crews to Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Hawaii. Asplundh, the largest vegetation management company in the world, has since acquired us as part of its Australian operations. More than 22% of the people on our books are Indigenous.
For householders it usually starts with tree removal and pruning. A dead, dying or pest-infested tree is a health and safety hazard, so we take it down, clean up behind ourselves and follow with stump grinding so the ground can be used again. Up this way we also handle de-nutting and palm maintenance, which is a job of its own once a palm is hanging over a driveway, a pool or a footpath.
Power line clearing keeps vegetation off the network for our utility clients, while land clearing, weed control and spraying and mowing and slashing cover the broadacre side for councils, miners and civil contractors. If what you need is something in writing rather than a crew on site, our arborists prepare tree reports and consultancy for development applications and disputes. We supply mulch and wood chip from what comes off the jobs, and we take on landscaping as well.
We work out of Mossman and Port Douglas across the Douglas Shire and Cairns, north into Cook Shire, the Gulf and Cape York, south through Townsville, and right down to Brisbane, Logan, Redcliffe and the Sunshine Coast. That takes in a lot of remote, rural and regional communities that are a long way from the nearest crew, which is exactly why we go to them.
The office is open 8am to 4pm and emergency work runs 24/7 for storm damage and for anything that has come down where it should not have. Ring us on 1300 499 283 or (07) 4098 8264, or send through a request for a quote and we will get someone out to look at it.
