Mr Trees

The Mount Ommaney Small Business Award for Trade and Services has come home to Mr Trees three times now, in 2021, in 2022 and again in 2024. Awards like that are decided by the people who live and work in the same streets we do, which is the part that means something to a family run business operating out of Seventeen Mile Rocks in Brisbane's south west.

Behind them sits more than 18 years in local tree care and a crew of qualified, trained Level 3 arborists. The business is fully insured for public liability and WorkCover, current through 2027, and there is a 24 hour emergency line for the trees that will not wait for the office to open.

Size is not what decides whether we take a job on. A tall gum crowding a roof line and a small awkward specimen wedged into a corner with no room to swing a rope are both tree removal work to us, and both come down to the planning done before anyone leaves the ground. Access is usually what decides the method: what machinery can get in, where the timber can be dropped, and whether the tree has to come down piece by piece over a fence line.

Tree trimming and pruning is the work that keeps a tree off the hazard list in the first place, taking weight out of the limbs that reach over a driveway, a roof or a boundary, encouraging balanced growth and keeping the tree looking like something you want in the yard. Once a tree has gone, stump grinding and removal clears the stump and the roots so the ground comes back level and free of tripping hazards, ready to be replanted or paved.

Palms get their own treatment. Our palm tree services run from frond removal on an overgrown palm through to taking the whole thing out when it no longer suits the yard. Dead fronds come down before they fall on their own, and a palm that has to go comes out without taking the garden with it.
