About This Business

AS 4373 is the Australian Standard for the pruning of amenity trees, and it is what we prune by on every job we take. NORRIVA is short for Northern Rivers Arboriculture: certified arborists based in Lismore, fully licensed and insured, running every site to SafeWork NSW guidelines, with better than ten years in tree care behind us. We work for householders, businesses and government right across this region, and the standard does not move depending on which of those is paying.

What we can take on is decided by what is sitting in our yard. The 14 tonne excavator carries a log grab and saw, which turns a large or high risk removal into a controlled lift instead of a felling job with everything that hangs on the last cut. On a block where a machine that size would do more harm than the tree, we bring the 3.5 tonne excavator with a log grab and the stand on loader, both small enough to get into a tight access site and precise enough for selective clearing. Stumps come out with a low impact grinder chosen to spare the garden around them, and on rough or sloping ground the Posi-Track takes a grinding attachment and does the same job where the grinder cannot go. Green waste leaves on one of our two heavy trucks, the 4x4 among them built for difficult terrain and carrying 15 cubic metres.

We work every local government area in the Northern Rivers: Ballina Shire including Ballina and Alstonville, Byron Shire including Byron Bay and Mullumbimby, the Clarence Valley including Grafton and Yamba, Kyogle and the rural country around it, Lismore and Goonellabah, the Richmond Valley including Casino, Woodburn and Evans Head, Tweed Shire including Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads, and Rous County. Tweed Heads down to Yamba, Tenterfield across to Ballina, and everything in between.

A tree you are worried about is worth a conversation before it is worth a chainsaw. Our tree health inspections start with what you have already noticed, the branch that looks wrong or the canopy that thinned out over summer, and then we go over the tree ourselves: the foliage for disease, pests and nutrient deficiency, the trunk and branches for cracks, decay and weak points, and the root zone for rot or soil compaction that could be undermining the whole thing. Caught early enough, most of what we find can be managed with targeted pruning or treatment, and you keep the tree.

When the weather turns, we are the local emergency arborist for this coast. Our emergency and storm service puts crews and machinery onto fallen trees and damaged limbs to get a property secured and a community moving again. At the other end of the scale, we take on land clearing and vegetation control for rural, commercial and utility holdings, whether that is clearing ground for a new development or cutting back fuel loads for fire prevention through the Richmond Valley and the Clarence Valley.

What comes off the job does not go to waste. The mulch from our tree trimming and removal work is sold out of the South Lismore yard at $30 a box for a trailer load, with delivery available up to 20 cubic metres and a discount on bulk loads. When it comes to the tree work itself, we price it up front and obligation free, with no fees appearing later that nobody mentioned at the start. Tell us what the tree is doing and where it stands, and we will come out and quote it for you.
