NORRIVA

NORRIVA, short for Northern Rivers Arboriculture, is a tree services business based in Lismore and working across the Northern Rivers of NSW. The crew are certified arborists, fully insured, and prune to AS 4373, the Australian standard for the pruning of amenity trees. The name is the region shortened, and the coverage matches it: seven local government areas running from the Clarence up to the Tweed.

Most jobs start as tree trimming or tree and branch removal, and the company also takes on palm removal and palm cleaning. Their position on removals is straightforward, that the work is hazardous enough to belong with a certified arborist rather than a general contractor. Trimming ranges from lifting branches off a roofline to reshaping a tree that has outgrown the spot it was planted in. Once a tree is out, stump grinding is done with a low impact grinder that takes the stump and roots down to ground level.

The plant list is heavier than most domestic tree crews carry: a 14 tonne excavator with a log grab and saw, a 3.5 tonne excavator with a log grab, a Posi-Track, a stand on loader, and a 4x4 truck with 15 cubic metres of capacity. That gear is what makes the land clearing and vegetation control side of the business possible, and it also covers bamboo removal, where the roots and rhizomes have to come out properly or the bamboo simply comes back.

Storm clean up is a regular part of the work in this corner of the state, and NORRIVA runs an emergency and storm service for fallen trees and branches, aimed at getting a property secured quickly.
