NQ Parks and Gardens

Before the wet season sets in we go looking for the trees likely to turn into a problem once the wind gets up, the ones that could put a limb through a roof, a shed or a fence. NQ Parks and Gardens started in 2014 as a single landscaper and runs three teams and eighteen people now, out of Cairns. Our arborists are licensed and insured, experienced working at height, and they work to health and safety regulation and current arboriculture practice.

On the trees themselves we take on tree trimming, and pruning and thinning where lifting a few branches out selectively will do more for the shape, the health and the safety of the tree than anything drastic. Where a tree has gone past saving, tree removal is straightforward enough with the right gear, and we have the equipment to reach the tallest of them for a clean, a prune or a full take down. Trees, shrubs and palms all want handling differently, and the species that grow up here have their own habits: knowing which of them drop limbs, which hold water and which go hollow from the inside is what stops a prune becoming a removal.

Whatever comes off gets chipped on site. Our wood chips go straight back over the garden beds as mulch, so the timber stays on your property and does something useful there, holding moisture in through the dry and keeping the weeds down. If you would sooner it went, we take it with us.

The tree work sits inside a bigger operation. Our hard landscaping covers paving, concreting and outdoor tiles, retaining walls and block work, pathways, driveways and steps, stone edging, gravel, water features, lighting and drainage, with soft landscaping and garden design alongside it. Garden maintenance is the ongoing side: lawn mowing, top dressing, lawn treatments and repairs, hedge clipping, whipper snipping, weeding and leaf clearing. For the bigger jobs we take on reforestation and land clearing.

We work across Cairns, south to Innisfail and north to Port Douglas, on houses, acreage and commercial grounds.
