About This Business
There are two sets of qualifications behind Ocean Road Tree Services, and they cover different halves of the job. Campbell Park, our founder and lead arborist, is a Cert III arborist currently completing his Diploma at AQF Level 5, and he manages the complex physical work. Laura O'Connor, our consulting arborist, holds an AQF Level 8 qualification and leads the technical and administrative side. Cam has called the Surf Coast home for more than twelve years and Laura was born and raised in Anglesea, so this coast is home ground for both of us.
Coastal trees are their own problem. Salt wind, sandy soil and tight beach town blocks all change what can safely be done with a tree and how it gets out of a garden, and that is the work we are in every week across the Surf Coast Shire and the Bellarine Peninsula, taking in Torquay, Bellbrae, Aireys Inlet, Breamlea, Moggs Creek, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads, and running on into the Geelong region.
All of our tree pruning is carried out to Australian Standard AS4373-2007, Pruning of Amenity Trees, so what comes off a tree follows a published spec rather than a rule of thumb. On a tree removal we bring high capacity wood chippers and grinding gear with us, which means stump removal and grinding and the clean up get done on the same visit instead of on a second trip. Yucca and palm removal earns its own mention, because those are genuinely awkward things to get out of a coastal garden, and hedge trimming keeps the screens that do the wind work along here in shape.
Because Laura holds an AQF Level 8, we also write arborist reports, and they go well past a note on a tree's health. Development and planning reports, tree protection plans, project arborist work through a build, health and risk assessments and Clause 52.37 reports all come off that desk, which is what a council, a builder or a buyer will ask you for. On bigger blocks we take on site and block vegetation clearance and forestry mulching, and where a tree can stay we do native bird habitat creation, keeping and modifying trees so the local birds still have somewhere to nest when the block changes around them.
We carry $20 million in public liability cover, we won a 2025 Quality Business Award, and our Google rating sits at 5.0. Ring 0466 020 342 or send us an email and one of us will come out, look at the tree in front of us and tell you what it needs and what it will cost before anything gets started.
