The lean gets a little worse each winter. Or the roots have started lifting the patio, or a limb has come down in a blow and you are standing in the yard looking at the rest of it. Those are the calls we have been taking in Fremantle since 1982. Removing a tree is a decision worth talking through before anyone commits to it, and we will give you the honest version. Roots damaging a patio, a path or a road, a lean that is getting steeper, decay from old age, pests or fungal infection, storm damage that has compromised the structure, or a tree that has simply outgrown a residential block and is now too close to the house or the powerlines: any of those can put a tree past saving. Our climbers get large trees out of very congested sites without wrecking the garden on the way through. The stump grinding that follows uses a high speed cutting disc with metal teeth to reduce the stump to fragments, and that matters more than people think where disease or fungus was in the tree, and again if you want to turf or plant over the spot afterwards.

Where a tree can stay, the pruning is what protects it. Different branch growth calls for different cuts, and choosing the right one maximises the tree's ability to heal and keeps unwanted regrowth down; where decay or fungal infection is the reason for the work, we make sure the pruning does not spread it. Deadwooding takes out the dead and diseased limbs before one of them lets go. Crown reduction and thinning open the canopy so the tree carries less wind load when the weather turns, which lessens the stress on it and lengthens its life. Crown lifting clears the lower branches back off roads, driveways and footpaths, and selective work keeps leaf litter out of the pool or opens up a view.

Palms come with their own list: dead fronds and flower pods tidied up, or the whole palm out if the maintenance has become too much, and they draw a considerable amount of water out of a garden while they are there. We also take on hedge cutting, fence line clearance to the client's satisfaction, and power line clearance, where our climbers keep up to date with Western Power's current requirements for overhanging branches on both high voltage and service lines. After a storm we clear the debris and leave the site spotless, and our Vermeer wood chipper either carts the waste off or turns it into mulch and leaves it with you.
