A report is worth exactly what the qualification behind it is worth. Ours are written by qualified arborists, and they end up where the arguments happen: council applications, development projects, and the tree assessments somebody orders when they need to know whether a tree can stay. We have been at this across the Macedon Ranges for more than 25 years at PM TreeWorx, and the useful part is that whoever writes your arborist report also turns up on the crew that carries out the work it recommends.

Not all of it is backyards. Schools, wineries, commercial sites, rural properties, property managers and local organisations are all on the books, and a school, a winery and a quarter acre block each ask something different of the same crew and the same gear. Riddells Creek is where we are based, and the regular run takes in Gisborne, Sunbury, Macedon, Mount Macedon, Woodend, Romsey, Lancefield, Kyneton, Tylden and the country around them.

On a rural block the trees are only half the problem. We take on the land clearing and mulching as well, dealing with the vegetation that has got away from a property: blackberry removal, gorse clearing and site preparation for whatever is going in next. Neither blackberry nor gorse gives up after one pass, so we plan the job around getting the worst of it out and leaving the ground in a state where the regrowth is a manageable follow up. What comes off gets mulched, which keeps the material on the property doing something useful.

When a tree comes down in a storm, none of that is the question. You need someone to turn up, and we run a rapid response for storm damaged trees and dangerous situations, which is the number to ring when a limb is sitting on the roof at six in the evening. The everyday list carries on behind it: tree removal for the hazardous, dead and unwanted, tree pruning and canopy management to keep a tree healthy and safe, stump grinding to give you back the ground an old stump is taking up, and hedge trimming to hold a screen in shape through the year.
