Being planted in the wrong spot does not have to be a death sentence for a tree. Tree transplanting moves it somewhere it can keep growing, and it is on our list because removal is treated here as the last option and not the default. We run Precise Tree Services as an owner operated outfit, with more than ten years in the arboriculture industry and a habit of asking whether a tree can be kept before anybody asks what it would cost to take it out.

Willis, our company director, got into this in 2010 through an opportunity in the Otway region pruning trees for clearance from power lines, and he left a job as a glazier to take it. The rest of the crew arrived the same way, out of other lives. Joe started in the UK eleven years ago and was sold on it a few months into his Level 3 National Diploma. Tim came across after sixteen years in hospitality during the pandemic, and Tom came out of construction. What that adds up to is a team trying to balance what you need with what the tree needs.

Where a tree can be managed, we manage it. Hedging and pruning keeps established trees and hedges healthy, safe and in shape, and cabling and bracing supports a weak branch union or a heavy limb so a structurally flawed tree can be retained safely. We also do habitat creation, turning a retained or standing dead tree into nesting hollows for local wildlife, and possum banding and management for the possums treating your canopy as a highway.

When a tree genuinely does have to come out, tree removal is done with an eye on everything around it, with limbs sectioned and lowered by rope on a tight or built up site. Our full tree management service is the long form of the same thinking, covering planned, ongoing care for schools, government sites, councils, commercial properties and private homes, and we work through the council regulations and permit requirements that apply to protected and significant trees around Melbourne. Our radius is roughly thirty kilometres out from the city, taking in Kew, Hawthorn, Balwyn, Surrey Hills, Toorak, Malvern, Richmond, Ivanhoe, Rosanna, Eaglemont, Montmorency, Brighton, Elwood and out to Kangaroo Ground.
