Lowering gear is what separates a tree that comes down in forty pieces from one that comes down in one and takes the fence with it. Ours gets used most days, because dismantling, bringing a whole tree to the ground in small sections under control, is the method a lot of Central Goldfields blocks leave us with. The part worth being careful about is the decision made before anything is cut. Felling a tree in one piece looks simple from the footpath and is not, and every removal operation is dangerous, which is why we work to an approved felling methodology and keep the training on it strict. Where the drop zone is not there, or the ground falls away, or there is a shed, a line or a neighbour in the wrong place, the tree gets dismantled instead, and that planning is where the care goes. It is also why we produce documented tree hazard assessments on the trees we look at, so what we are recommending is written down and can be argued with.

Around the removals, stump grinding uses specialised gear to take a stump out cleanly so the ground is ready for building, paving or replanting and nothing regrows through it. Tree pruning and tree lopping look after the canopy work on the trees staying put, and disease control deals with the ones that can be treated instead of removed. What comes off the jobs is chipped and goes out again through our mulch sales.
