About This Business
Every tree we survey can go into TreePlotter, the web and GIS platform we use to collect and share data daily. It handles inventory, reporting and tree care records, it runs in a browser rather than sitting on one machine in an office, and the data is held in the cloud in Sydney, so as many people as need it can add to it and read it in real time.
Remote Area Tree Services covers the remote parts of the Northern Territory along with Darwin and its surrounds, working out of Coolalinga. Our director, Richard Kenyon, is a third generation arborist with more than 20 years in the industry in Australia, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture at Level 8 and a Diploma in Arboriculture at Level 5. Janet runs the office and the phones. In the field we put out three to four crews, each one led by a team leader with a Certificate 3 in Arboriculture at minimum, and the rest of the staff are qualified arborists at Level 3 or 5.
We are members of Arboriculture Australia and the Northern Territory Arboricultural Association, we hold CAL accreditation, and we are a registered QTRA user, so where a tree's risk needs to be quantified and reported on a recognised scale, it can be. Continuing professional development keeps the crews current, which is the only way the practices we use stay best practice.
The hands-on work takes in tree pruning and removal, formative and corrective pruning, cable bracing to hold together the limbs worth keeping, stump removals and excavation works. We handle pest and disease control, and sensitive area works where what surrounds the tree matters as much as the tree itself.
We also put trees in and keep them alive. That means tree planting, root barrier installation to stop roots finding their way under paths and pipes, tree watering through the dry, tree transplanting when something has to move, and habitat creation where a tree can be made to earn its place for wildlife.
When the weather turns we run storm, cyclone and emergency response, and the storm damage work that follows it. Consultancy and GIS and GPS mapping can be booked on their own if what you need is the information and not the crew. The office runs Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Ring 0411 581 545 and tell us what you need looked at.
