About This Business

An elevated work platform is what gets a crew safely to the top of a tree that has no business being climbed, and it's the first piece of kit we reach for at Richmond Valley Tree Services. We've run this business out of Casino since 2000, working across the Richmond Valley and Kyogle council areas for domestic, commercial and industrial clients, and we're qualified arborists and OH&S certified. Beside the platform sit all terrain spray units built for vegetation control out on country a road truck would never cross.

That combination earns its keep on the block that has got away from someone. A paddock, a house block or a long stretch of verge left alone through a wet Northern Rivers summer is really three jobs stacked on top of each other: the growth that's there now, the regrowth that follows a fortnight later, and the woody stuff that has to leave the property. We put the slasher through it, run the spray units over what would otherwise come straight back, and feed everything woody into the chipper where it falls. One crew, one visit, one bill, instead of three contractors booked across three different days.

When a tree has to come out, we take it out, whatever size it is and whatever is sitting underneath it, and the platform means the ones nobody should be climbing are still ours to do. Where a tree can be kept, our tree maintenance work is the pruning that holds a canopy back off a roof or away from a shed without losing you the tree. Then we bring the grinder back for the stump grinding so the ground comes back into use and you're free to turf it, pave it or plant something better in the same spot.

Very little of what we cut leaves as rubbish. Mulching and chipping turns the tree into usable material on the spot, and we sell firewood and mulch direct, so what comes off one property in the morning goes on to heat or mulch another one. The rest of what we promise is plain enough and we hold ourselves to it: we arrive when we say we will, we get through the job with as little disruption to you as we can manage, and we leave your site cleaner than we found it.

The part that catches people out is the paperwork. Removing a tree, or even taking branches off one, can need approval from your local council, and going ahead without it can attract a hefty fine. We keep the council application forms for tree removals in our region on hand, and they spell out which trees need approval and what information the council wants submitted with the request, so it's worth a phone call before you commit to anything. We're on the phone Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm, closed weekends, and we'll take on a job of any size, right down to a single stump. Tell us what the tree is and where it stands, and we'll tell you what the council needs before we quote you for the work.
