Riverland High Works

Everything we do happens off the ground. Riverland High Works was established in the Riverland of South Australia in 1990 as a family owned business, and it has grown from there into a state-wide operation specialising in every kind of elevated work. Steve Buchecker owns it and runs the arboriculture side, Daniel Clarke manages operations and Jenice Buchecker keeps the office moving. Steve holds a Diploma and a Certificate III in Horticulture and Arboriculture, a Licence to Perform High Risk Work, Working Safely at Heights, SafeWork SA construction induction, work traffic management, senior first aid and a current police check.

Tree trimming and removal is worked to AS4373, the Australian standard for pruning amenity trees, and after more than 30 years in the region there is not much in a Riverland backyard or along a council verge we have not had a look at. Stump removal takes out what the saw leaves behind. Where a decision needs making before anything is cut, our tree assessments put a trained arborist in front of the tree first. What comes off a job gets chipped, and we sell the mulch that comes of it.

The elevated platform works are where the name comes from. We run Versalift platforms, STIHL and Bandit gear and an industrial vacuum unit, which puts us up alongside things a ladder was never going to reach. That platform earns its keep on more than trees, so we also take on gutter cleaning, window cleaning and solar panel cleaning at height, along with property clean ups where a block needs sorting out in one hit.

Our work comes from households and from schools, councils, caravan parks, insurance and real estate companies, local businesses and government departments including DPTI, the SA Housing Trust, the NRM board and SA Water. The base is Barmera in the Riverland and the jobs run right across South Australia. We keep a 24 hour emergency call out going, so when something comes down where it should not be, ring us at whatever hour it happens.
