An 80 metre mountain ash and a small pruning job are the two ends of what we take on, and both are an ordinary week. Simpson Trees and Stumps specialises in limited access and large tree removals, which means the trees that cannot come down in one piece because of what is standing around them. Chris Simpson owns the business and has more than 25 years in the industry, and our team includes a qualified arborist with 25 years in the trade as well.

We are a family owned, fully insured business working out of Ballarat and anywhere inside a 150 kilometre radius of the city, which takes us a long way past the suburbs and out through the farming districts around them.

Limited access is the part we are known for. On a block where a tree simply cannot be felled, it comes apart in a way that suits the space it is standing in, piece by piece, and we run state of the art equipment so we can work safely around whatever happens to be underneath. Alongside tree removal we take on storm damage, growth reduction and view restoration, which is the same set of skills pointed at a different outcome. When we are finished the site is left clean and tidy, and as immaculate as we can leave it.

Pruning is maintenance. Done properly it lengthens the life of a tree and leaves it looking better for the work, and it is the answer to a canopy throwing too much shade, catching too much wind, or quietly working away at a roof. Roots left in the ground can go on damaging whatever gets planted or built in the old tree's place, so our stump grinding clears the ground out properly, and our grinders will get into tight spots a bigger machine has no chance of reaching.

Whatever comes off the tree goes through the chipper under woodchipping, and the mulch that results goes back to use instead of to the tip.
