Surfcoast Tree Services is a tree care business based in Anglesea on Victoria's Surf Coast, owned and operated by Jake Cleine. It ran for years as Surf Coast Tree Lopping before the change of name, and the work is carried out by qualified arborists with experience across a wide range of tree species. The focus stays close to home: the coast and the shires that sit behind it.

Most of what the team does is getting trees down safely. They handle tree removal and tree felling, whether it is a single dead gum in a backyard or something larger growing tight against a house that has to come out in stages. Tree pruning, trimming and preservation keep established trees healthy and in shape, and once a tree is gone, stump grinding takes the leftover stump out of the ground so the space can be used again.

Weather off Bass Strait means storm damage and emergency work is a regular part of the job, clearing fallen or hung-up limbs off roofs, driveways and fences after a blow. The team also takes on fire prevention, thinning and cutting back vegetation before the fire season, and prepares tree reports and assessments for owners who need a tree's health or safety put on paper.

Mulching rounds things out. There is an on-site mulching service, and mulch is sold by the load for anyone after some for the garden. Jake and the crew describe their work as skilled and efficient, with a plain focus on safety and on respecting the environment they are cutting in, which fits a business that grew out of looking after trees on this part of the coast.

Surfcoast Tree Services covers the Surf Coast Shire, taking in Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Torquay, Lorne and Winchelsea, along with the Colac Otway towns of Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek. They also work across the City of Greater Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula around Barwon Heads, Clifton Springs and Drysdale, and out through the Corangamite Shire to Camperdown, Terang, Cobden, Timboon and Port Campbell.
