About This Business
The country here runs from the ridges behind Nimbin and The Channon down through Lismore and out east to the coast at Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Bangalow and Mullumbimby, and I have been cutting trees across the whole of it for more than 18 years. Swing Tree Service is me, Chris Anderson. I take the call, I quote the job and I do the work, so the bloke you speak to on the phone is the one who ends up in your tree. Qualified, insured, and kept small on purpose.
The jobs I get rung about are usually the ones with no room in them. A tree hard against a house, one leaning over a shed, another boxed in between a fence and a driveway: there is nothing to fell into, so I climb it and bring it down in sections. Branches cut from over buildings come off on ropes and get lowered piece by piece with proper climbing and lowering gear, so nothing touches your roof or your garden beds on the way to the ground. Climbing is what I am known for through the Northern Rivers, enough that other arborists in the district put me on their own difficult trees, and that subcontract tree climbing is a standing part of my week.
I did my Certificate 3 in Arboriculture at Wollongbar TAFE in 2002 and went back for my Certificate 4 in 2012, and that training is what sits behind the judgement calls: whether a sick or unstable tree can be kept at all, and what has to come off it if it can. It is also what decides how I go about crown lifting and reduction, tree pruning and tree shaping and deadwood removal, which is to take the weight off where it actually needs to come off and leave the tree balanced enough to carry on. When a tree has to go, tree removal and tree felling are finished off with stump grinding that takes the stump out below ground level.
My kit suits both ends of this district: a 9 inch Bandit wood chipper, a four wheel drive tip truck that will get up a wet dirt track, a stump grinder, and full climbing and lowering equipment. Clearing and chipping work goes through the chipper where it falls. I also own a portable timber mill and have 14 years behind it, going right back to milling the waste logs left after forestry logging around The Channon, so a decent log off your removal can be cut into slabs or beams on the spot and stay on your property as timber. Ring me on 0419 628 991, tell me what the tree is doing and where it stands, and I will come out, have a proper look at it and price it for you.
