Taff's Trees

In 2005, after serving in the British military, I went to train at Merrist Wood, the arboricultural college in the UK. My name is David. I worked all over Australia after that before settling in Dunsborough, where I live with my family, and I started Taff's Trees here in 2020. That adds up to close to 14 years as an arborist in the South West, which is long enough to know the local trees and how they behave in this climate.

I am also an IRATA Level 3 rope access technician, the highest of the three levels, and that ticket earns its keep on the jobs where there is nowhere safe to put a ladder and no way to get a machine in. In 2023 we helped build the possum bridge at Dunsborough. On a tight block a removal usually means taking the tree apart in sections on ropes, which starts with working out how it has to come down and picking the method that gets it there without marking up whatever is sitting underneath it.

Tree removal runs from a small backyard tree through to something large and awkward beside a house, a shed or a fence line, and we look at each one on its own terms and keep the methods as environmentally sound as the job allows. Pruning is worth getting right, because bad cuts are hard to undo once they have been made, and done properly tree pruning keeps a tree healthy and structurally sound for the long run.
