Taff's Trees

In 2023 we helped build the possum bridge at Dunsborough, which is where I live with my family and where Taff's Trees has been based since I started it in 2020.

My name is David. In 2005, after serving in the British military, I went to train at Merrist Wood, the arboricultural college in the UK. I worked all over Australia after that before settling here, and I have now spent close to 14 years as an arborist in the South West, which is long enough to know the local trees and how they behave in this climate. I am also an IRATA Level 3 rope access technician, the highest of the three levels, and that ticket matters on the jobs where there is nowhere safe to put a ladder or get a machine in.

Tree removal runs from a small backyard tree through to something large and awkward beside a house, a shed or a fence line. We look at each one on its own terms, work out how it has to come apart, and pick the method that gets it down without marking up whatever is underneath it. On a tight block that usually means taking it out in sections on ropes, which is where the rope access side of things earns its keep, and we keep the methods as environmentally sound as the job allows.

The other half of the work is tree pruning. Done properly it keeps a tree healthy and structurally sound for the long run, and it is worth getting right, because bad pruning is difficult to undo once the cuts are made. Consultations are for when you want to know what is actually going on before anybody starts cutting: diagnosing a disease, assessing a tree that has been worrying you, or working out what to plant and where it ought to go so it suits the spot. If a tree can be kept, I will tell you that.

Over the years we have built up a steady client base around here, working with local landscapers, property managers and wineries as well as householders. Emergency tree work is there when you need it, for the trees that fail without warning or come down in weather. We are licensed and insured, quotes are free, and the pricing is plain and fair with nothing hidden in it.
