Our tree maintenance is carried out to AS 4373-2007 and to Arboriculture Australia's Minimum Industry Standards, and the habitat work is done to the same standards. Tasmanian Arbor Care operates out of Cranbrook on the East Coast of Tasmania, fully insured with public liability cover, working with experienced climbers and an EWP for anything that has to be reached from above. Alex Travers founded the business in 2024 and brings 11 years in the industry to it.

When we assess a property for bushfire risk, the assessment comes from someone who has stood in front of a fire. Alex has a background in emergency management and is a current crew leader for the Tasmanian Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, so a bushfire risk assessment from us is not a desk exercise. We walk the property, work out which trees and which growth are the problem, and tell you what needs to come out or come back to make the place defendable.

Removals we handle from the first cut to the last barrow load: felling and safe removal, limb removal and dead wood removal, with stump grinding to finish and emergency call outs when something turns dangerous overnight. We have trimmed the dead branches off a 25 metre gum from the cherry picker, cleared a block at Orford before construction started, and been called out to Bicheno in strong winds more than once. The service area is the whole East Coast, from Buckland right up to Binalong Bay and inland to Avoca, through Orford, Triabunna, Swansea, Dolphin Sands, Coles Bay, St Marys, Scamander, Beaumaris, Falmouth, St Helens and Fingal, with the rest of Tasmania available on request.

Pruning is often where a tree gets saved. Taking one or two branches off can extend the life and the health of a tree you would rather keep, and we prune for health, appearance or safety depending on what the tree in front of us needs. The East Coast also throws up its own troubles and we treat them: elm leaf beetle through an integrated pest management strategy that combines biological and chemical controls so the impact on people, pets and everything around them stays low, and bracket fungus, which matters here because eucalypts dominate so much of this landscape. Hedge trimming, block clearing, mulching and chipping and some landscaping fill out the rest, and if you want to keep the mulch or the firewood, say so and we can usually sort it.
