About This Business
In 2014 Colin Fry started Tasmanian Arboriculture Group on the back of two decades in the local industry, and he still directs it as our consulting arborist. What we believed then is what we still work to now: a well managed tree is an asset to your property, to the environment and to the community around it, and that belief decides how we approach a backyard removal just as much as a development site assessment.
The business has grown into three arms since. Tas Arb Consultants handles the paperwork and the judgement calls, Tas Tree Care does the work on the ground, and Tas Land Regeneration takes on the larger blocks. Rogan McPhie runs operations across all of it.
On the consulting side we provide arboricultural asset management for the trees a property already has, and project arborist services on development sites where somebody has to be accountable for what happens to the vegetation. Our tree assessments, impact evaluations and tree protection plans are the documents that satisfy a council or a builder before work starts, and they are written by people who will also be there when it does.
The crew is the part we would point at first. Our climbers work to Rope Access Level 3, our arborists hold a Certificate III in Arboriculture, and we bring apprentices up through the ranks rather than hiring only finished tradespeople. Among them are a Bachelor of Science with honours in botany from the University of Tasmania and a Bachelor of Natural Environment and Wilderness Studies, which is why the ecological side of a job gets the same attention here as the cutting does. That team handles tree removal, tree pruning across deadwood, formative and crown thinning work, tree planting, pest management, habitat creation and ongoing maintenance.
On larger and rural blocks our land regeneration work covers eco mulching and firebreak creation, revegetation with native trees, weed management, vegetation management and site remediation. We work across Hobart, the Midlands and southern Tasmania, on urban and rural ground alike. For a tree assessment, a removal or a broader landcare project, ring 0428 997 068 or send an enquiry through and we will get you a quote.
