About This Business
Tertiary Tree Consulting is a consulting arboriculture practice based at Glenelg and working across Adelaide. We are not a removal crew. What we do is assess trees and put the assessment in writing, so that you, your council or your builder can make the decision on something solid.
Our director and senior consulting arborist has better than 18 years in the industry, an MSc in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry from the University of Central Lancashire and an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate of Arboriculture taken at first class honours through the University of Melbourne, with the AQF Level 5 Diploma and Certificate III behind those. On the risk side we are a QTRA Advanced Quantified Tree Risk Assessor, ISA TRAQ qualified and a VALID Tree Risk Benefits Assessor. We hold the Gold Australian Arborist Industry Licence and we are members of the International Society of Arboriculture and of Arboriculture Australia.
Development reports come in two forms. A Preliminary Tree Assessment is the basic one: tree numbers, species, height, spread and the retainability of each tree on the site and on the land adjoining it. An Arboricultural Impact Assessment goes further, working through what your building, infrastructure, stormwater drainage and landscape construction will do to the trees that are already there. Where construction is proposed inside a Tree Protection Zone, the report sets out the tree protection requirements, and we can carry out root mapping when the root zone is sensitive enough to warrant it.
Hazard assessment reports, also called tree risk assessments, identify the potentially unsound features in a single tree or a group of them, because trees are inherently dangerous and the level of risk comes down when they are inspected periodically by someone qualified to read what they are looking at. A tree audit, which you might also hear called a tree survey or a tree management plan, goes wider: it describes the existing condition and vigour of every tree in your population along with a risk assessment, supported by a photographic database so there is a benchmark to measure against in later years. We can build a database management system alongside it so each tree can be maintained properly, and add amenity valuations, planting specifications and tree species selection where they are useful.
The rest of the practice covers disease and pest management, including elm leaf beetle, pruning specifications for whoever ends up doing the work, water sensitive urban design, and expert witness work when a tree matter ends up in front of a court or a tribunal.
Give us a call or send an email with the address and what the question is, and we will tell you which report you actually need.
