About This Business
The Fleurieu Peninsula grows a mixed bag of trees, and we work on most of them. Palms and date palms, pines, gums and spotted gums all have their own habits and their own way of failing, and The Tree Fellers advise on, remove, trim and shape the lot of them from a base in Victor Harbor. We service the whole peninsula, the business is fully insured, and Greg Ellers runs it as managing director.
Taking a tree out is a last resort here, and we will say so on site if that is what we think. There are situations that call for it: a tree overcrowding the ones around it, a tree that is dead or dying, one that has become unsafe, one planted too close to the house or another building, or a stand that has to go for bushfire clearance. Part of the job is helping you decide which of those you are actually looking at before anybody commits to anything. When the answer is yes, we have the equipment and the skills to get the tree and its stump out safely even where there is no clear way to drop it, and on the bigger blocks land clearing and tower hire put the reach and the machinery on the job that the site genuinely needs.
When the answer is no, the work changes shape. Tree lopping and pruning thin out branches that have become unnecessary or dangerous, take off the ones interfering with power lines, gutters and windows, and clear diseased and dead limbs before they let go in their own time. We will work through with you whether a tree wants lopping or pruning to hold or improve its health and appearance, and where a tree needs more than that to keep standing, tree surgery and tree trimming carry it from there.
Nothing off your block leaves in a skip. Woodchipping and mulching turn the limbs into mulch, which is worth having through an Australian summer: it conserves moisture, prevents erosion, moderates soil temperature, improves the fertility and health of the soil underneath, and suppresses weeds. Woodchips are slow to break down, so a load stays put longer than most other mulch materials. And if all you are after is firewood, there is a good stock of 10 to 12 inch well seasoned mixed gum in the yard, self serve. For anything else, ring the office landline, catch the mobile, or send an email through, and we will come and look at the tree in person before the free, no obligation quote goes to you.
