The Tuff Cut

The same crew that takes your tree out can lay the turf where it stood. The Tuff Cut runs an arboriculture side and a horticulture side out of the one business, working for homes, strata and commercial properties across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley. We know the species that grow around here, and that matters when you are deciding whether a tree can be kept or whether it has to go.

On the tree side we handle removals of any size, along with tree felling where there is room to bring one down in a controlled drop. Pruning is done to improve a tree's health and structure, not simply to cut it back, and tree surgery treats the diseased, damaged and decayed ones so they have a future in front of them. Where a tree is worth keeping but is not sound enough to leave alone, cabling and bracing gives it the structural support to stay standing.

If you are not sure what is wrong with a tree, our tree health assessments work out what is actually going on, and risk and hazard assessments pick out the trees likely to cause damage before they get the chance. Pest and disease management deals with what is quietly killing them. After the cutting is done, stump grinding takes the stump right out so nothing regrows, we chip the timber on site, and the mulching goes back into your soil where it holds moisture and feeds the beds.

The garden side runs from garden design and planting through to a full yard makeover, with mowing, edging, hedge trimming, fertilising, rotary hoeing and soil preparation as ongoing work. We lay turf and prepare the ground properly before it goes down, and we treat lawns for army worm, cut worm and black beetle. Strata and property maintenance is available to agents and strata managers as a one-off, or on a weekly, monthly or quarterly round.

For the heavier clean-ups there is land and block clearing, weed clearing and green waste removal, and after bad weather we respond quickly to storm damage, fallen trees and debris.
