About This Business

Shane Gooley runs Tiger Trees NT, Donna Gooley is co-director and looks after the admin, and Jessica Gooley works alongside her in the office. It is a Darwin family business, based at Girraween, and across the crew we hold dogman tickets, tree climbing certificates, EWP operator licences, chainsaw and wood chipper tickets, white cards, first aid and arborist qualifications. Every job we take on is fully insured.

Some trees simply cannot be dropped safely, and that is the whole reason there is a crane in the yard. A tree overhanging your roof, one growing hard against the pool, or one in a space too tight for a standard fell gets taken apart in sections and lifted clear over the house. The same crew does the lot, the arborist work up in the tree, the crane rigging and the clean-up at the end, so there is no second contractor to coordinate.

The run covers Darwin, Palmerston, Howard Springs, Casuarina, Leanyer, Karama, Berrimah, Zuccoli, Virginia and Humpty Doo, and we go south to Katherine and the surrounds. There is a fly in fly out service on top of that, which is how we reach remote, rural and regional parts of the Northern Territory and get out to island work.

A removal might be a tree that has died, one leaning on a shed, or one that has grown somewhere it was never going to fit, and our tree removal work covers all three. Palms are a category of their own up here, and palm removal usually means one that went in too close to the house years ago and then kept going up. Where a tree is staying put, pruning and trimming take the weight out of a canopy and bring it back off the roofline before the wet season gets a chance to test it.

Stump grinding gets the remainder out of the ground so you can plant or pave over the top of it. Everything that comes down goes through the chipper and can go straight back onto your beds as garden mulching. We take on slashing and general garden maintenance as well, and storm and cyclone preparation in the lead up to the season, so the weak limbs are off before the season starts.

We are open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. A tree that comes down on a car, a fence or a roof at two in the morning gets dealt with at two in the morning, and that is what the 24/7 emergency number is for. Ring Shane, and we will come out, look at the tree and tell you what it needs.
