About This Business

Dual qualified at AQF Level 8 and Level 5, our senior arborist has been working out of Brisbane for more than 17 years. Tim the Tree-Man is an arboricultural consultancy, so commercial, residential and civil clients come to us for the assessment and the paperwork rather than the chainsaw. On top of the AQF qualifications sit ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified and Advanced Quantified Tree Risk Assessor under QTRA, and we are a Qualified Member and Consultant of the Queensland Arboricultural Association. Everything we do is covered by public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

When a tree dispute reaches QCAT, the arborist report has to be written by an AQF Level 5 Arborist at minimum, has to be factual, and has to address the local and state legislation and the Australian Standards that apply to that particular site. We write those reports. We also attend the hearings and stand behind what is in them, which is the part that matters when the other side has a report of their own.

Project arborist engagements come straight out of AS 4970-2009, which requires an AQF Level 5 Arborist on the job when work is happening around protected or retained vegetation. We supervise the site while that work is under way so it stays compliant with the consenting authority. Earlier in a project, a preliminary arboricultural impact assessment report helps builders, architects and site contractors design around the trees they have to keep, with tree-sensitive design recommendations where they are relevant, and the full arboricultural impact assessment report follows when the development application calls for one.

Visual tree assessments are how a defect gets found before it becomes a failure. We inspect from the ground or from up in the canopy, looking for the defects and external characteristics that point to structural instability, and we take in the surrounding environment where that has a bearing on the tree. Protected vegetation is a piece of due diligence in its own right: we contact the consenting authorities and confirm exactly what status the vegetation on your site holds, whether that is local or state heritage, a condition of a Development Approval, or Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law. Before you buy a property, a pre-purchase onsite vegetation inspection sets out what the surrounding vegetation means for the place now and what it is likely to mean later.

Plant health care plans round out the list, for trees that are worth keeping in good condition over the long term. We service clients across Queensland and northern New South Wales. Ring the office on 3315 4889 or Tim direct on 0412 738 038, tell us the address, whether there is protected vegetation on the block, and what you need the report for, and we will take it from there.
