A flail mulcher changes what a day on a rural block looks like. Instead of scrub and regrowth being cut back by hand, flail mulching takes it out across paddocks, tracks and boundaries in one pass, and with small earthworks we can square the ground away behind it. That is the side of the work our name comes from, and it runs out of Porepunkah in north east Victoria.

Tom's interest in trees started as a small child, when he was forever outside climbing them. He turned that into a qualification in arboriculture, went to work for a Melbourne based company, and in 2014 came back to the Porepunkah area and established Tom's Rural Tree Services. The crew has grown in size and in equipment since then, and the team is always supported by our trusty site supervisor, Rusty.

A customer put the standard better than we could. We had a huge tree to remove from a very tight area with overhead powerlines in close proximity, and their verdict afterwards was that there was no mess left behind and no damage. That is what tree removal and tree pruning are held to here, carried out to the Australian standards of tree pruning and care, so what happens to a tree is settled by the tree itself, the ecosystem around it and the safety of the people living nearby.

Working as a qualified arborist means the health of a tree is part of the job too. Tree bracing supports weak or splitting limbs on a tree that is worth holding on to, and stem and soil injection treats pests, disease and nutrient problems from inside the tree. We also take on habitat installation for landholders who want hollows and nesting sites kept on the property, and after a removal we grind the stump out of the ground.
