About This Business
You have a tree leaning over the house, or a stump you have been mowing around for two summers, and the only question on your mind is how quickly it can be gone. The second question, once someone raises it, is what happens to the tree afterwards. Total Tree Fella works across Mount Gambier and the surrounding district for residential, commercial, private and government clients, and we have been doing it for close to two decades. Both questions get an answer here, because what happens to a tree after it hits the ground matters to us as much as how it gets there.
When a tree becomes a problem or starts to look like a safety risk, we handle the tree removal as a controlled process from the first cut, small garden trees through to the large ones, with as little disturbance to what surrounds them as the site allows. Some trees are too tall or too far gone for anybody to be climbing, so we bring in a cherry picker for safe access at any height and take the hazardous or unwanted limbs off from there. With tree stump grinding the specialised gear works below ground level so lawn or paving goes back over the top flat, and where a stump has to come out whole, tree stump removal lifts the lot, tripping hazard and all.
This is the part where a removal turns into something else. A mature tree coming down for safety reasons is also a few tonnes of usable timber, and we have the milling capability to do something with it. Timber milling turns those trees into custom cut slabs sized to what a woodworking or building project actually needs, and what is left over is cut and processed into firewood supplies that burn properly through a cold season down south. The unique timbers that come out of South Australian trees are the reason we bother with any of it, and we salvage them off our tree and stump removals wherever the job allows.
Not every tree is a candidate for the mill. Our tree pruning is precision work high or low, trimming branches to promote growth and reduce risk while holding the natural form of the tree, and canopy reductions bring the overall size back without spoiling that shape. We shape and maintain hedges so a hedging job stays neat and defined right through the year, formal garden or relaxed one, and formative pruning sets a young tree up before its structure is decided for it.
Trees get sick as well as overgrown. Our disease and pest control begins with assessing the damage and identifying the root cause before anything is applied, then works through the options: mycorrhizal fungi introduced to the roots to lift nutrient uptake in poor or less fertile soils, stem injections that put a treatment straight into the plant's internal systems, and targeted insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and baiting where they are warranted. Root care and deep root care go after the root system itself, because a tree's stability and longevity sit on it. We keep chemical use to the minimum a job needs, for your family and for the native wildlife that shares the block with you.
Every job here starts the same way. We assess what you have got, work out what is actually causing the trouble, and put a plan and a price in front of you before anyone starts a saw. Ring Tom on the mobile or send through the details of the tree and a photo if you have one, and the quote comes back free and with no obligation attached, whether you are after one backyard tree taken out or ongoing maintenance across a commercial or government site.
