The person running the saw at Total Tree Services once looked after the Toowoomba City Council's flora assets. Jamie Nairn was the council's Senior Tree Surgeon before he founded the business in 2002, and he holds qualifications in horticulture and arboriculture with 20 tickets, accreditations and licences on top of them. He runs the business with co-owner Dr Renee Nairn, who majored in biology and holds a PhD, so the hands-on tree work and the science that explains it sit under the one roof. We are fully insured and we work for households, councils, government, insurers and large businesses alike.

Our tree lopping and tree pruning keep trees safe and well shaped through the seasons, and when a tree has to come out we take on tree removal of small, medium and large specimens, with access to cranes up to 350 tonne for the biggest and most difficult jobs. Once a tree is down, our stump grinding and removal takes the stump back to ground level so it cannot sprout again or rot into a haven for termites and other pests.

As qualified arborists we also handle the diagnostic side. Our arborist services take in inspections of large trees for rot, pests and disease, recommendations for tree problems of any scale, and ongoing tree management plans for endangered and valuable tree assets. For bigger projects we carry out site clearing and tree clearing, including roadside clearing for safety, eradication of large-scale pest tree infestations, and clearing for road, infrastructure and mining development. We run a specialised tree transplanting service for large, mature trees and Australian natives such as bottle trees and other endangered varieties, relocating them instead of losing them. We also supply mulch, both fresh and seasoned forest mulch and long-lasting shredded hardwood, in 8, 12 and 20 cubic metre loads.
