Treasure Trees

In 2022 James took over the long established Timbertops Tree Works, and in 2024 Timbertops merged with Maja and Tyla at Treasure Trees. The practice you deal with today came out of that merger: two teams with the same view of the work, which is that caring for people and the planet is inseparable from doing good business. We keep our crews safe, we follow research based practice, and we talk plainly with everyone involved in a job. Our arborists hold Certificate III in Arboriculture through to AQF Level 5 and Level 8, we're members of Arboriculture Australia, and we carry 20 million dollars of comprehensive liability cover, 5 million dollars of indemnity cover and workers compensation.

Preservation comes first here. We're equipped for complex and large tree removals, but we'll exhaust the options for keeping a tree standing before we recommend taking it out, and tree preservation and remediation is the bracing, cabling, guying and propping that holds a tree that can be held. Tree pruning, sick tree and pest treatments, tree planting, tree transplanting, mulching and stump grinding fill out the rest, and as EvoEnergy accredited arborists we're authorised to undertake all required powerline tree management and maintenance. One part of what we do you won't find on every tree contractor's list is habitat trees. A dead or declining tree isn't automatically something to get rid of. It can be pruned back to a safe height and left standing, and we'll advise on how much of it has to come off to make it safe, weighed against what it can still offer possums, flying foxes, microbats and native birds. That work runs to hollow creation, nest box installation and evaluating fallen logs for habitat on the ground, and we do it alongside ACT Wildlife when there's wildlife on site that needs rescuing. Wood chip from a job is yours to keep if you want it, because arborist mulch is one of the best performers going for moisture retention and soil temperature, and what you don't want goes to a local green waste facility.

When a tree fails, our arborists are trained in the VALID tree risk assessment method and we're equipped to respond to emergency call-outs, from a storm clean-up to urgent make safe work on a limb through a roof or a tree that has lost its roots. Canberra's rules matter too. Once a tree on private residential land reaches a certain height, canopy spread or trunk girth it becomes regulated, and ACT Government approval is needed before it comes out or gets a heavy prune. We're happy to submit the tree assessment application for you, and we'll say up front that we charge for it, the same way we charge for a site visit. That fee is what keeps the advice impartial, and it regularly saves people the cost of work that never needed doing.
