Our elevated work platforms run from 12 metres up to 70, and behind them sit crane trucks, tracked and narrow access loaders, excavators large and small, whole tree mulchers, a horizontal grinder, stump grinding machines in every size and specialist rope access climbers for the trees no machine can reach. That fleet is why Tree Care WA can quote a job in a courtyard and a job on a mine site with the same confidence. We started in 1991 and now employ more than 35 trained personnel, working across the Perth metropolitan area and regional Western Australia for residential, commercial, civil and mining clients and for state and local government.

The Marr Mooditj Training Centre at Manning shows how that plays out. Two large Moreton Bay figs were damaging the buildings and infrastructure around them, and years of poor pruning had left both with crown structure so compromised that limbs were failing regularly. They stood in a confined spot beside buildings, near infrastructure, with extensive landscaping underneath, and there was no room to get a platform in while conventional climbing and rigging was not the cost effective answer. Our consulting arborist specified a large crane instead, and both trees came out section by section to waiting crews, trucks and chippers inside a single day, with the stumps ground the following morning. We have been using large cranes on confined removals for over 20 years.

Fire mitigation is work we are called on for year after year. After the 2014 fires that tore through the properties around Stoneville in the Shire of Mundaring, we were one of the main contractors the state government brought in, and we saw at first hand which prevention methods held and which did not. That work now goes out to asset managers, land management agencies, utility and infrastructure groups, councils, mine sites and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services: vegetation hazard reduction, BAL asset protection zone clearing, understorey forestry mulching, boundary and strategic firebreak construction and maintenance, shredding down green waste piles, hazardous fire damaged tree removals, and clearing low inaccessible vegetation by hand where nothing else will fit.

The everyday arboriculture is cut to the Australian Standard for pruning of amenity trees: structural, formative and corrective work, crown reduction, deadwooding, hazard reduction, habitat and fracture pruning, palm de-seeding and frond removal, boundary line work and underwire street tree powerline clearance. On a large tree removal in a confined backyard we work off a platform, off a crane, or with rope access climbers and rigging, whichever the site actually allows, and the truck and chipper leave with the debris. Stump grinding and extraction, cable bracing, block and development land clearing, and habitat pruning with nest installation come off the same crews.

Our consulting arborists write the arboriculture reports: visual tree assessments, tree protection plans, structural and critical root zone assessments, development site tree management, tree valuations and tree risk assessments under both QTRA and TRAQ. Aerial inspections are done by climbing, by platform or by drone depending on the tree, and we can put a supervising arborist on your site for the duration of the works. We hold memberships with Arbwest, Arboriculture Australia and the International Society of Arboriculture, are QTRA certified, and are a WALGA approved contractor.

When trees come down in a storm our emergency assistance runs around the clock and we can put multiple crews on at short notice, which is what a utility, an insurer or a government department actually needs from an emergency contractor.
