Tree Essence

Carving an artificial hollow into a tree and stringing fairy lights through one are both on our list, which is a wider range than most tree crews carry. Jamie Montgomery founded Tree Essence in 2013 as a family run operation, he's an AQF Level 5 qualified arborist, and there are over 20 years of hands-on industry experience across South East Queensland and Northern NSW behind the work. We're based at Nerang on the Gold Coast, and twelve years on it is still the same family running it.

Tree removal handles the trees that have turned hazardous or are simply in the wrong place for the property they're on, and tree lopping deals with the size problems. Where a tree is worth keeping, tree pruning improves its health, structure and appearance, and our tree health work looks at what is actually ailing one before anybody decides its fate.

Cable and bracing is for the trees worth preserving, putting structural support between stems so co-dominant trunks share the canopy weight and a weak union is less likely to fail. It is the service that keeps a mature tree standing when the other quote on the table was a removal, and on a tree that has been in a garden for fifty years that is a decision worth taking slowly.

Habitat creation carves artificial hollows into trees with specialised chainsaws and carving tools, giving native wildlife somewhere to live where development has taken the natural hollows out. Fronds, health inspections, planting and relocation all come under our palm care. Once a tree is gone, stump grinding takes the stump out below the surface so the ground is ready for replanting or new landscaping.

Consulting is there for when you need the thinking rather than the cutting, on a tree you're unsure about or a decision you have to justify to somebody else. Our commercial work puts the same crew onto larger sites and ongoing programs. Fairy light installations are the outlier on the list, designed and installed for weddings, celebrations and residential spaces by people who were already qualified to be up that tree. It is the sort of job an AQF Level 5 arborist can do without putting a spike through the trunk that everybody wants to look at.
