Tree FX

Three woodchippers sit in our yard: a 15 inch Bandit 1590XP, a 12 inch Bandit 990XP and an 8 inch Forst ST8D, the smallest of them kept for off road and paddock work a truck will never reach. Tree FX runs out of Montrose and services Melbourne's east.

Behind the chippers are a 16 cubic metre Fuso Fighter mulch truck, a 10 cubic metre Hino Dutro tipper, a Fuso city tipper, a Holden Colorado four wheel drive, a Vermeer S800TX tracked loader, a Timber Wolf hydraulic wood splitter, a GRCS rigging system, trailers, and the climbing and rigging gear that goes up the tree with us. Every vehicle is serviced regularly and complies with the WHS requirements. That spread is what lets us take on a large tree and stump removal in the morning and fine pruning or a hedge in the afternoon.

Dean Meyer is our director and head arborist, with more than 20 years in the arboricultural industry, including time in companies across Australia and Europe working alongside some of the world's best arborists and tree climbers. He holds a Diploma in Arboriculture from Melbourne Polytechnic and a Certificate IV in Horticulture (Arboriculture) from Melbourne University, and he built this business around a culture of safety and support that stays fun and friendly, on the view that a happy team is the surest route to a happy customer. We are OH&S certified and fully insured, and a member and sponsor of the VTIO, the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation.

For the trees that have to come out there is safe tree removal and stump removal. The rest we keep where they stand: tree pruning to hold a tree's shape and balance, and cabling and bracing where a limb or a union needs support instead of a cut. When the trouble is biological and not structural, pest and disease control and elm leaf beetle treatment go after whatever is eating the tree, and promotion of tree health is the work that brings a struggling one back.

On the advisory side, arboricultural consultancy takes in tree hazard assessments and risk management strategies, tree selection and planting for people starting again, and tree preservation and habitat creation where a tree is worth keeping for what lives in it. We carry out school assessments as well. All of it is done in accordance with the Australian Standards and local authority bylaws, and the honest tree advice and the hazard inspections that go with it cost you nothing.
