About This Business
The remote access tracked chipper is the machine that decides which jobs we can say yes to. It gets into difficult terrain and tight spaces a truck and a towed chipper cannot follow, so the timber coming off a back section is processed where it falls and the waste never has to be hauled around the house by hand. At Tree Guy Hobart the gear is chosen for the block as much as for the tree, and that is what lets us quote a job other outfits look at and walk away from.
Gareth Fryer founded the business and still leads it, an arborist and landscaper with more than 30 years in the industry. Our arborists are qualified and insured, and the quotes we give are fixed price, so the figure you agree to is the figure you pay. We turn up when we say we will, and the property is left clean when we go.
On a removal the first question is always where the tree can go. Where there is room we fell it whole, and where there is not, safe tree felling in confined spaces brings it down in sections under control. Stump removal follows so you are not left with regrowth and pests in the ground, while land and section clearing handles the bigger jobs where a block has to be opened up for a build. Work near the network is covered too, with power line clearance done to the regulations that govern it.
Removal is not always the answer, and we will tell you when it is not. We prune and reduce, thin canopies and lift crowns to take weight out of a tree and let light back into a garden, and deadwooding gets the dead limbs down before they choose their own moment. Hedge trimming and careful work on specimen, ornamental and fruit trees covers the finer end of it. When a council or a purchaser wants something in writing, our qualified arborists produce tree assessments and reports for approvals and property transactions. All of it runs across Hobart and Southern Tasmania, from Sandy Bay, Taroona and Kingston through Glenorchy, Moonah and Claremont to Bellerive, Howrah, Lindisfarne and Rokeby, and out as far as Huonville, Dodges Ferry and Old Beach.
The landscaping side is what makes us useful once the tree is gone. Planting plans and tree planting put the right species back in the right spot, habitat creation gives something back to the wildlife that lost the old tree, and full landscape design and construction means a block can be cleared, replanted and rebuilt by the one crew. On Tasmanian properties where the bush comes close, fire risk mitigation and vegetation management earn their keep, and wood and branch chipping turns what we take off into mulch you can put straight back on the garden.
We run a 24 hour, 7 day service for tree and storm emergencies, so a fallen trunk or a limb hung up over a driveway does not have to wait for morning. For everything else, ring Gareth or book online and we will come out, look at the job properly and put a fixed price in front of you.
