Tree Limits has been working in East Gippsland since 2003, run out of Bairnsdale by arborists trained through the University of Melbourne's Burnley horticulture and arboriculture campus. The most unusual part of the business is its habitat creations work. Rather than chipping every dead or dying tree, the team turns them into homes for wildlife, cutting hollows for nesting, building bat mazes and reptile habitats and repurposing timber that would otherwise be waste. Landowners keen to keep habitat on their block can have a standing dead tree made safe and left as a wildlife tree rather than removed outright.
