About This Business
East Gippsland is a long way from one end to the other. Out of Bairnsdale we get to Sale, Lakes Entrance, Paynesville, Eagle Point, Metung, Bruthen, Orbost, Omeo, Cann River and all the way out to Mallacoota, and we have been serving that stretch since 2003. We run Tree Limits as a family owned business with 25 years of arboriculture across the team, certified through the University of Melbourne's Burnley campus and ISO certified for quality management, environmental and OH and S systems.
The work we are proudest of does not look much like tree work. When a tree cannot be saved it can still be turned into somewhere for something to live. We cut hollows into dead trees and stumps for artificial nests and homes, build bat mazes and shape reptile habitats, so a dying tree on your block becomes an active part of the local ecosystem rather than a trailer load of firewood. We will talk habitat creation through with anyone who has a tree coming down and would like something left standing on the site.
Before any of that, the first question is whether the tree can stay at all, and our arborists will make every effort to sustain one before recommending it comes out. Where the answer is tree pruning, there is a good deal more to it than lopping off the overhanging branches and carting the timber away, so we work with certified tree climbers and a 27 metre cherry picker and lift tower to reach the parts of a canopy a ladder never will. Hedge trimming and wood chipping come with that. Where a tree genuinely has to go, we handle the tree and stump removal with specialised grinding equipment and as little disturbance to the ground around it as the job allows.
On the specialist side we fit tree cabling and bracing to hold a tree that has gone structurally weak but is worth keeping, and we carry out disease treatments. With forestry mulching we clear dense scrub, small trees and unwanted growth in a single pass, grinding it back into the soil so it suppresses regrowth and reduces erosion, which also makes it one of the better tools for fire hazard reduction: it strips out the ground fuels and creates defensible space around buildings. For rural blocks there is paddock slashing for long grass, weeds and light regrowth, and reach-arm vegetation management for the roadside growth nobody can safely get at from the ground.
Our client list runs from householders and businesses through to councils and other local authorities, and that range is only open to you if the paperwork holds up. Every job is fully insured and thoroughly risk assessed before a saw comes out of the truck. We employ local staff wherever we can and partner with other local organisations, because East Gippsland is where we live as well as where we work.
The team runs Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 6:30pm, with after-hours work available by appointment. Quotes are free and start with an onsite inspection, so the price you get reflects the actual tree and not a guess over the phone. Ring 03 5152 7733 or 0412 525 527, or send through a detailed enquiry and we will get back to you to talk it over.
