About This Business
Over seventy thousand trees, palms, grasses and shrubs went into Barangaroo Reserve, and Leigh Brennan grew them. In 2011 he was Nursery Manager at Andreasens Green when the supply contract came in, and he project managed the construction of six acres of land set aside purely for it, working alongside government agencies, well known landscape designers, soil scientists and consulting arborists until the full order was delivered on time four years later. In 2017 he started Tree Management Strategies, and that is the experience sitting behind a tree report from us now.
Leigh holds a Diploma of Arboriculture at AQF Level 5, a Diploma in Horticulture, a Cert IV in Business Management and certificates in Agriculture, with more than fifteen years growing and assessing trees for the landscape industry behind them. Councils ask for a tree report before you can touch anything protected, and the wording of the request usually tells you which one you need. We prepare Preliminary Arboriculture Assessments, Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Tree Protection Plans and Hazard Inspection Reports, in a timely fashion and without you having to chase us for them, for residential and commercial clients throughout New South Wales: Greater Sydney, the Northern Beaches, and the South Coast and North Coast.
A large Angophora costata, a Sydney Red Gum, came to us infested with wood borer, and the client was enthusiastic about saving it. It got a contact spray, a trunk injection and a deep soil injection of root tonic, all aimed at lifting the tree's health and vitality enough to fight the attack off. That is horticultural consultancy at the sharp end, and the same service takes in pest and disease management, tree support systems, landscape tree selection, irrigation selection and maintenance, and landscape planting technique. On a build going ahead near trees worth keeping we take the Project Arborist role on site, which means confirming the Tree Protection Plan is actually being complied with, root mapping so root systems are not damaged, and monitoring the health and vitality of the retained trees right through the construction phase.
Because Leigh came up through wholesale nursery management, two more things sit on the list. Nursery stock assessments measure trees against Australian Standard 2303 Tree Stock for Landscape Use before they are bought and long before they go in the ground, which is the cheapest point at which to catch a poorly formed tree and avoid a costly replacement later. And staff training and development runs on your own site with your own stock, hands on, covering AS 2303, staking, pruning and propagation technique. Ring 0447 356 059 or email Leigh with exactly what your council has asked for, and we will tell you which report answers it and what it will take to produce.
