Tree Needs is an owner-operated arborist business run by Ringo Gannon across the Bass Coast and Phillip Island. Ringo is an ISA approved arborist with a Diploma of Arboriculture and more than 15 years in the field, and he brings something most tree services do not: a registered seed collector's eye for the ecosystem a tree belongs to, not just the tree in front of him.

The approach is deliberately treecentric. Where a healthy, attractive tree can be made safe rather than removed, that is what gets recommended, and every job starts by exhausting the options for keeping a tree before removal is put on the table. When a tree does have to come out, removals are offset with native replanting, so the loss is put back into the landscape.

The work still covers the full range: tree pruning, tree trimming and lopping, branch removal, tree removal and stump grinding, handled by a crew where every employee holds at least an AQF Level 3 in arboriculture and carries between 10 and 25 years of experience.

The ecological side is where Tree Needs stands out. Habitat creation designs and builds tree-hollow and terrestrial habitats for native birds, mammals and reptiles, from greater glider nest boxes to wedge-tailed eagle nests, and the business also takes on heritage tree maintenance, arborist reports and council tree reports for owners who need documentation to back a decision.
