Tree Range Arborists

Tree Range Arborists is a family-run business based at Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges, and it started, by the owners' own account, in the "witching hours" of their second child's first fortnight, at the kitchen table. The idea was to build something that gave the family more flexibility and offered what they felt the arboriculture industry was not yet doing. It has grown from that into several crews, with more than 15 years of arborist experience behind the work and membership of both the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation and Arboriculture Australia.

Working in the Ranges means working around some of the tallest trees in the country, and the crew is described as technical climbing arborists rather than a cut-and-chip outfit. Tree removal and assessment is the main job, with tree pruning and restoration for trees that have been badly cut in the past or knocked about by weather. Stump removal and stump grinding follow behind, and tree bracing and cabling is offered where a limb union needs support instead of a saw.

Emergency tree removal and makesafe covers the storm end of it. The site is honest about turnaround: response times "depend on weather conditions, location and job volume", with the aim of attending urgent hazards as quickly as possible. Storm-damaged trees are assessed, unstable ones taken out, and the broken timber and debris cleared away. The business is fully insured for complex removals.

The environmental side is more than a line on a page. Timber off jobs is recycled into bespoke furniture, mulch goes out to community organisations, and the crew installs habitat, plants natives and uses biodegradable consumables to keep the carbon footprint down. Habitat and vegetation management and site clearances are offered as services in their own right, along with arborist reports and mulch delivery if you want a load dropped off.

Work is done for residential, commercial and government clients across the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Ranges and out through Melbourne's east. Named areas include Belgrave, Monbulk, Olinda, Sassafras, Kallista, Cockatoo, Gembrook, Montrose, Mount Dandenong and Mount Evelyn, along with Lilydale, Croydon, Ringwood, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Knox, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Berwick, Pakenham, Cardinia, Warburton, Seville, Yarra Junction and Warrandyte.
