Nobody in Toowoomba has been consulting on trees longer than we have. Tree Test Australia is the original arbor consultancy in this city, more than 25 years of it now, and in all that time the job has stayed the same: look at the tree properly, test it, and write down what we find. We are fully insured and council approved, and consulting is the whole of what we offer: surveys, testing and reports.

Our work ends in a document you can hand to a council, an insurer or a body corporate. That takes in arboricultural surveys and tree reports for planning and development, hazard and risk assessments run under the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment system, where we are a registered licensee, and annual tree risk assessments for sites that need the same trees looked at year after year with a record to match. School tree risk assessments sit in a category of their own, with play space underneath and a duty of care that only counts for something once it is written down.

Decay detection is where the Resi comes in. It reads the inside of a trunk or a limb, so we can map cavities and the stages of decay without harming the tree. We hold a Senior Resi Operators Certificate 5 and IML Resi Certified Trainer status, so as well as running the equipment we teach other people to run it. That same testing sits behind timber structure evaluation, the aging of significant trees and scar tree testing, where a culturally significant tree has to be assessed and cannot be cut into.

Behind the reports is a Level 5 Diploma in Horticulture and Arboriculture, membership of the Queensland Arborist Association and the ISA, and a QTRA licence held in our own name. Vegetation surveys and project supervision are part of the list too, the second of those for builders and developers who need someone across the trees for the length of a job rather than for one visit. For crews who would rather their own people could read a tree before the work starts, we run ground staff training as well.
