About This Business

Twenty-one years in tree work, a good slice of it in Sydney, is where David Munro learned to take a tree apart in a space with no room to work in. He is a Cert III certified arborist and he heads the on-site crew at TreeCare Professionals, a family owned business run out of Robertson. His father Grant is the other director, forty years in finance and twenty running the family farm here, and he handles the books. We hire locally wherever we can and put our apprentices through on-the-job training.

How a tree removal gets done depends entirely on what we can get near it. Our climbers work on ropes and pulleys to lower the sections down so nothing drops onto the garden beds or the shed. Where access is easy the truck and chipper sit close by and the material goes straight through. Where it is not, we shift it with a loader or carry it out by hand, and for the heavier sections we bring a crane in. Stump grinding finishes the job, and we clean the site down to the leaves and the small branches before we go.

Taking a tree out is not a small decision and it can be an emotional one, so we look for a way to save it first and only put removal forward where it is genuinely warranted. Tree maintenance is often the better answer. Trimming and pruning out the dead, diseased, hazardous and overgrown limbs keeps a tree healthy and safe, and it heads off the disease and insect attack that follow a neglected wound. We also take on fence line clearing, and whatever the job we cut back only what has to come off, with an eye on the shape the tree is left in.

Storm damage is a job of its own. The fallen trees and debris need clearing, but the trees still standing usually need remedial work too, because exposed wood on a damaged tree is an open door to disease and insects. We assess what is left, carry out the remedial pruning and get the property back in order. Storms are unpredictable and expensive, so if you have a tree you are worried about, it is worth a phone call before the next one.

Our work covers the Southern Highlands and the Illawarra, from Robertson across to Bowral, Berrima, Burrawang, Bundanoon, Kangaloon, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Exeter, Sutton Forest and Wildes Meadow, then down the hill to Kiama, Albion Park and Oak Flats. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Quotes are free, and you speak directly with the owners when you ring. Call 0414 723 661 and we will find a time that suits you.
