About This Business
Treecycling Tree Services was started more than twenty years ago by Rick and still works out of Farmborough Heights, up behind Wollongong. The crew pairs qualified arborists with experienced ground staff, everyone is insured and trained in safe work practices, and a good share of the work comes from clients who have been calling the same number for years.
They are unusually upfront about not wanting to cut your tree down. Their own copy lists what a tree is worth first, shade, wind protection, amenity and habitat, and says they aim to retain trees wherever they can. Tree removal is put forward for disease, storm damage, a genuine safety risk, or a tree that has simply reached the end of its life. When it is the right call they take out trees of any size, in back yards and in awkward settings alike.
Tree pruning covers routine maintenance, structural shaping, and taking off dead or overhanging limbs, whether the aim is clearance from a building, safer footpath access, or just keeping the shape of the tree honest. The team works to current arboricultural standards. Stump grinding follows a removal so the space is usable again, which matters if you are laying turf, running a fence line or landscaping over the spot, and the ground is left clean rather than full of chip.
The recycling in the name is not decoration. Tree material goes through specialised machinery and comes back as mulch, good for weed suppression, holding moisture and evening out soil temperature, with delivery across the Illawarra. They also supply firewood, seasoned hardwood split and dried for heaters and fire pits, sold by the ute load of roughly 1.1 cubic metres and delivered anywhere from Bulli down to Albion Park. Milled timber products are on the way.
On council approvals they are straight with you: they do not issue permits, but they will tell you what is required and point you at the Wollongong City Council tree management guidelines or the Shellharbour Council tree removal application form. Their advice on whether to do it yourself is the same, if the tree is large, near powerlines, or protected under council rules, get a qualified arborist to look at it. Quotes are free. The office runs Monday to Friday, 7am to 3.30pm, with Saturdays by appointment.
