About This Business
A gum comes out of a back yard on a Tuesday, and the timber does not go to landfill. It goes through our machinery and comes back as mulch on someone's garden beds, or gets split and dried into firewood for a heater down the road. That cycle is where the name came from. Rick started Treecycling Tree Services more than 20 years ago, we work out of Farmborough Heights, and the crew pairs qualified arborists with experienced ground staff, all fully insured and trained in safe work practices.
We would rather keep a tree than take it out. Trees give you shade, wind protection, amenity and habitat, and we aim to retain them wherever it is a real option, which is why the first conversation is usually about whether the tree has to go at all. When disease, storm damage, a genuine safety risk or simple old age says otherwise, our tree removals cover trees of all sizes in every kind of setting, from a small backyard specimen to a complex removal with no clear ground beneath it.
Throughout the Illawarra and across Wollongong and its suburbs, the other half of the work keeps trees standing. Our tree pruning is done to current arboricultural standards, for maintenance, for structural shaping, for taking out dead or overhanging limbs, for getting clearance off a building, and for keeping a footpath safe to walk down. It is careful work, and it is the difference between a tree that lasts and one that has to come out in ten years.
Stumps come out with the stump grinding, small or large, so you can lay turf, put a fence in, landscape the spot or simply stop tripping over it, and we leave the area clean and ready to use. The mulch we make holds moisture in, keeps the weeds down and evens out soil temperature, and we deliver it across the Illawarra. Our firewood is seasoned hardwood, split and dried, delivered by the ute load of about 1.1 cubic metres anywhere from Bulli to Albion Park, and milled timber products are on the way.
If your tree is large, close to power lines or protected under council rules, that is the point to bring a qualified arborist in. We do not issue permits ourselves, but we will tell you what Wollongong or Shellharbour council needs from you before the work starts. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 3.30pm, with Saturdays by appointment, so call 0402 834 617 or email us and we will get you a free quote.
