A new shed, a home extension or a subdivision tends to come back from council with a request for an arboricultural impact assessment, and writing that report is what Treeleaf Arboricultural Consulting does. Our consulting arborists are AQF Level 5 qualified and ISA TRAQ certified, and the documents we issue conform to Australian Standard AS 4970 (2025) Protection of trees on development sites. On a development we can pick the job up at any stage. A preliminary tree assessment comes first, usually before a proposal has reached final approval, setting out each tree's health, structure, retention value and the hazards worth knowing about while the design can still move. The arboricultural impact assessment then measures what the build will do to the trees and vegetation on and around the site. If trees are being retained, a tree protection management plan sets out how they are safeguarded through the works, and as project arborist we can stay on the site through construction and hold the builder to that plan.

Away from development work, tree condition and hazard risk assessments run the ISA TRAQ method over a tree to work out what it actually threatens, and a tree health and condition report gets underneath a tree that is failing, whether the cause is disease, a pathogen, or the soil and site conditions it is growing in, with remedial recommendations attached. Where roots are the question, our non-destructive root investigations map what is under the ground without cutting into it, identify the roots that matter and set out the options.

Tree audit reports are the ones schools, golf courses, caravan parks and shopping centres need across a whole site. Every relevant tree goes through a risk matrix and comes out with an overall and a residual risk rating, aligned to the guidelines of the local government area, so the asset register stands up to scrutiny. We also prepare tree valuations, putting a figure on a tree by species, size, health and position, and pre-purchase recommendations when you want species that will suit the climate and soil before anything goes in the ground.
