Treescience

Treescience is an arboricultural consultancy led by Jason-Jay (JJ) Fletcher, our principal arboricultural scientist. Before starting the firm, JJ spent seven years as a senior arboricultural scientist at Brisbane City Council. He holds an AQF Level 8 in arboriculture, close to as far as the qualification runs, along with a master's degree in urban forestry, and he sits as an arboricultural expert witness in the Supreme Court and other courts. Across the team we bring more than 35 years of combined municipal, commercial and private sector experience, and our people are certified through the International Society of Arboriculture and are members of the Queensland Arboricultural Association.

Our work is the thinking-and-reporting side of arboriculture rather than the chainsaw. We prepare tree assessments and reports, act as project arborists supervising trees through planning, design and construction, and write expert witness reports for legal and planning matters where a tree is in dispute. We build tree inventories and GIS mapping for councils and large sites, provide plant health care and soil science for trees that are struggling, and consult on urban forestry and green engineering designs where established trees and new development have to coexist.

We work for private, commercial and government clients, and a lot of what we bring to a job is knowing the environmental planning policies, bylaws and legislation sitting behind it. That means the advice you get is written to the relevant Australian standards and is ready to stand up when a council, a certifier or a court asks the hard questions.

Treescience runs offices in Queensland and New South Wales and takes on projects Australia-wide, and in Queensland that regularly takes us across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Moreton Bay and Toowoomba.
