About This Business
Wayne Tregea holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science in Horticulture and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, along with a White Card, an Ochre Card, an EWP licence and a forklift licence. He taught horticulture for Charles Darwin University from 2000 to 2007, and before that was an extension officer at Agriculture Victoria. His introduction to central Australia came in 1988, as a university graduate starting with the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries in Alice Springs, working in the cut flower industry. He started Tregea Landscaping in Alice Springs in September 2007, and he still oversees all the works.
The teaching did not stop when the business started. Wayne turns the research and training background into training staff out on the job, particularly in desert gardening and in the importance of irrigation and good water use, so everyone on the crew is equipped to carry out their work safely. There is more than 20 years of experience in the industry across the team, and desert horticulture is a discipline of its own, not something anyone picks up in a wetter part of the country.
The arboricultural side is where that background earns its keep. We provide advice and tree care to approved Australian Standards and practices, and our qualified arborists are equipped to advise on the safety and care of trees in public places, at schools, at churches and anywhere else in the community where people walk underneath them. That extends to tree audits and written safety audit reports for residential and commercial or institutional sites, with recommendations and long term maintenance programmes drawn up for the life of the trees. If you are the one responsible for a site with mature trees on it, that is the part worth asking about. On the ground it comes down to tree pruning and removal, stump grinding and hedge trimming.
Around the trees sits the garden maintenance: lawn mowing, whipper snipping, weeding, fertilising, poisoning and garden waste removal, ongoing or one-off, with makeovers for a property about to go up for sale and clean-ups for tenants moving out of a rental. The crew has the tools for all bobcat and dingo work as well, so site clearing, levelling and contouring get done by machine once a job is more than a few barrow loads. We design, install and maintain water saving automatic irrigation systems, which out here is usually what decides whether a garden makes it through a summer, and there is a DIY kit if you would rather do the planting yourself. All of it covers domestic and commercial gardens right across Alice Springs.
The business carries full public liability insurance and all work is carried out to industry safety standards. Any quote is prepared and approved by you before the work commences, so nothing starts as a surprise. Complete a quote enquiry form or ring Wayne, and we will come and look at what you have got.
