Jack grew up around tree work. He is a second generation tree removal specialist, and he started Uppercut Tree Services to put that behind his own name, working the Mornington Peninsula from a base at Rosebud. It is family owned and operated, and the crew, Steve, Kurt and Chris among them, are qualified, licensed and insured. Tight coastal blocks and trees growing hard against buildings are an ordinary day for us down here, and that is the ground we have chosen to work on.

A storm weakened gum leaning over a house, a dead tree that has turned into a hazard, a healthy one that has simply outgrown its spot: all of those come down under tree removal, in a controlled way, with the site cleared before we drive off. Tree lopping and pruning holds established trees in shape and takes weight out of limbs before it becomes anybody's problem, and with hedge trimming we hold a boundary or feature hedge square. From Portsea and Sorrento at the tip, through Blairgowrie, Rye, Tootgarook, Rosebud, McCrae, Dromana and Safety Beach, up to Mount Martha, Mount Eliza, Red Hill and Flinders, and across to Somerville, Hastings, Tyabb and Frankston: that is our run.

A scissor lift saves a lot of arguing with a roofline. It gets us up to limbs that would otherwise mean climbing out over tiles, and we carry chainsaws in enough sizes to match the cut to the timber. The mulching truck and the chipping gear travel with us, so the tree leaves the property the same day it comes down. Once the trunk is gone, stump grinding and stump removal gets the remains out below ground level so you can turf it, pave it or plant straight into it, and everything that has gone through the chipper turns into mulch. Our wood chipping and mulch sales means you can buy a load of that back for the garden beds.

We are on the road Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm, which suits anyone who would rather have a crew there before the day heats up. A fallen or dangerous tree gets a fast emergency call out.
