About This Business
A local government can engage us at any value without going to tender, because WA TreeWorks is an accredited WALGA preferred supplier, appointed after a fully compliant public procurement process. We are also prequalified as a Tier 1 Grade A contractor to the Water Corporation, which clears us for high risk work above a million dollars. David Barker has run the business since 2000 out of Martin in the Perth Hills, and the client list runs across government, mining, utilities, agriculture, commercial and private work.
The purpose built grapple saw truck is the machine that changed what we can take on. It reaches 27 metres vertically and 24 metres out to the side, lifts one and a half tonnes at full side reach and two tonnes on the saw head, cuts to 450mm, and runs on a 500 horsepower 8x4 truck. All of it is worked by remote control from the ground, which takes the climber, the chainsaw and the fatigue out of working at height entirely, and the slew and lift can be limited when we are near power lines. We own and operate the whole fleet outright, and not hiring machinery in is a large part of why our pricing holds up.
If a pruning notice from Western Power has landed in your letterbox, we are a Western Power certified power line clearing company, able to work under any configuration of line and prune to the Australian Standards. Our qualified power line arborists will take out the offending branches, a small tree or a whole block of them, and cut the odds of an outage on your street. The quote takes account of the type, health and future growth of the tree, its position in relation to land use, underground services and the overhead lines, and the gear the job actually needs.
Firebreak services are a legal obligation above a certain land size and the shires inspect them for compliance, so the detail matters: a three metre bare earth path around the boundary, widening to six where the land adjoins a highly populated area, and every council words its requirement slightly differently, which is why we read the local regulation before we quote. We put breaks in with skid steers and tractors running disc ploughs, rake buckets or mulchers, and for utility clients we can cap one with limestone or Ferrocrete so it stays trafficable and the weeds stay down. Grounds maintenance covers the contracted mowing, slashing and vegetation work around reservoirs, waterways, drainage systems, fence lines and under powerlines, including a remote controlled slope mower that works on non slip tracks up to a sixty degree incline. The same crew handles access track clearing, drainage clearing and bushfire asset protection zones.
The regular run takes in the suburbs north of the river from Yanchep through Joondalup, Hillarys and Subiaco, south of the river from South Perth through Mosman Park, Fremantle, Wattle Grove, Gosnells, Armadale, Rockingham and Mandurah, and the Perth Hills around Mundaring, Kalamunda and Martin. If you are further out in regional WA, ask us, because we often are. Every job opens with a conversation and a site inspection, then a needs analysis, and we will tell you what we recommend before we tell you what it costs. The office is on 1800 088 733, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and for after hours enquiries leave a message and we will call you back.
