About This Business
Mature trees, existing landforms and the character of the country around a block are what we look at before anything else. Every site already has a story written into it, and at Woodside Consulting our job is to read that first and advise second. Get that order right and the plan settles into the site instead of fighting it.
Our arboricultural assessments are independent reports, written to support development applications, planning proposals and the tree management decisions that come with owning land that has established trees on it. Independence is the point of them: the report sets out what the site actually holds, not what a proposal would prefer it held. Where a build is already underway we take on project arborist work too, covering construction monitoring, tree protection through the stages where trees are most at risk, and practical advice on the days a call has to be made on site rather than on paper. Excavation near a root zone, a crane pad in the wrong spot, a change to levels that nobody thought would matter to a tree, these are the moments where having an arborist across the job saves an argument later.
The design side of the practice sits alongside the reporting. Our landscape design work and planting plans are drawn to complement what a site already has, so a garden looks like it belongs there from the first season and keeps improving as it fills out. On the advice side we handle plant selection and restoration planting, and we put together tailored planting schemes for residential gardens and for rural landscapes, where the scale, the exposure and the species list are all different.
We work throughout New South Wales. The office is at North Turramurra on Sydney's upper North Shore, so the North Shore, the Hills and greater Sydney are close at hand, and we also keep a postal address at Gloucester in the state's mid north for the rural side of the work. Bushland blocks, acreage and country properties are as much a part of what we do as suburban gardens, and the brief for a bush block at Gloucester looks nothing like the brief for a garden at Turramurra.
If you are planning a new home, preparing a development application, or laying out a new garden and want to know what the trees on the block will allow, ring us on 0417 417 012 or send through the details of the site. We would be more than happy to talk the project through with you.
