Bringing a crane in to take a large tree down in sections is a method we pioneered, and it is still the safest and most cost effective way we know to deal with a big hazardous tree in a confined space. Woodvale Tree Services is a privately owned arboriculture company working out of Port Macquarie, run by Adam Jarvis, who learnt the trade in England and has been at it since the early 1990s. Adam chose the machinery and the crew himself, and the team are approved contractors to Port Macquarie Hastings Council.

Unsuitable, unhealthy and dangerous trees are what tree removal is for, and taking one out whole or in pieces between a house and a fence line is a job our qualified arborists set up before they start cutting. Council has a process for anything that gets pruned or removed and we will walk you through what applies to your address first. Stump grinding deals with what is left in the ground afterwards, while site clearance and ongoing contract work cover developers, utilities and property managers who need a whole block or corridor handled.

We are blunt about qualifications, because plenty of people in this industry are not. Anyone can call themselves an arborist, and a fair few tree loppers do, which is how bad advice and bad cuts end up costing tree owners years later. If you want a consultation, engage an AQF Level 5 qualified arborist. If you want pruning or maintenance done, make sure whoever climbs the tree holds at least an AQF Level 3 in arboriculture. That is the standard behind every arborist report, survey and piece of advice we produce, and it is why our work is accepted by councils, insurers, construction and utility clients, NSW Housing and property managers as readily as by households.

When a tree fails, the call is answered by trained staff in our own call centre, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our 24 hour emergency work crews go out to trees brought down by storms and fires, and to the ones still standing that are about to go, and we have worked alongside the NSW SES, regional councils and approved authorities through some ugly weather on the coast. We also write tree related Emergency Action Plans for clients who would rather have a system in place before the storm arrives than improvise during it.

There is a bit more to us than saws. We run elevated work platform hire, and we install fauna boxes for the bats, birds, gliders and possums that depend on tree hollows, which matters because a usable hollow takes at least a hundred years to form in a eucalypt. That work has been done alongside ecologists on Pacific Highway construction and for Total Earth Care. We also sell mulch and firewood, with delivery included to most homes and businesses in the Port Macquarie and Hastings region.
